This started as a free open source project, and still remains that, but its too much of a time drain for me getting nothing in return.

My advice for the loyal users? If MediaScout doesn't do what you want it to, use Meta<Browser />. If that doesn't do what you want it to, learn C#/.NET, and continue on from my work (Or pay me lots of money so I have any motivation to work on this :P)

MediaScout does everything I want it to do, so I probably won't be pushing out any more updates until the API changes and it breaks for me.
FreQi or Soultaker (maybe) may push out updates (or any of the other "team")

As the saying goes, so long and thanks for all the fish

Isn't this part of being a developer? It comes with the job. It's a great program. It's your choice to stop supporting it. Just don't complain about the obvious.

Excuse me for my bluntness, but you're an ass.

It's definitely not aeoth's "job", as he does not get paid for this but has simply taken his own free time.

The key to a developers 'job' is strangely hidden in the title - it is to develop. It is not to support. I'll refrain from making any snide remarks about you. I'd prefer to call myself a programmer, rather than developer, then any ambiguity about the title is removed.

And as genro said, I don't get paid for this. I don't get paid for any programming infact - I'm a uni student - a disabled one at that. I'm not well enough to work, even MediaScout at times was a struggle with my health problems. Programming for the foreseeable future looks to be (sadly for me) just a hobby, and thus I can remain unwilling to support.

Wow. what a jerk this guy is....No sense of gratitude or idea of how much effort goes into developing applications like this. :x

Guys I don't think he was ragging on aeoth for discontinuing support. He was simply saying that he has every right to stop supportorting this project. It's his. He can do whatever he wants with it. He doesn't need to give excuses why he is stopping supporting it. It's a given that when you're developing a program on your own, it will be a huge time hog. You won't have time for anything else. This is a given. He was just saying don't complain about the obvious....

Well... for me MediaScout is almost perfect just the way it is.

If something really bothers me I would download the source and fix it myself (as I did in fact some time ago).

Anyone can take the project from what it is now and implement new features, fix some issues and so on...

Man, it's really sad to see Aeoth go. TVScout/MediaScout still is the best metadata handler out there. I hope he releases the source so that others may continue where he left off.
