DVDID.xml

Ok, this has been added and will be available in the next release.
New Options under Options-Movies Tab to specify location for DvdInfoCache folder (or any folder you specify), specifying this location automatically means you want meta<browser/> to generate dvdid.xml files for Dvd Library.

- I look for an already existing *.dvdid.xml file, if one exits i use the same one otherwise i create a metabrowser.dvdid.xml file with my own dvdid (currently using guid generation, let me know if you want it as something else)
- I update all information for the DvdInfoCache file
- I then update the NAME tag in dvdid.xml to that of the LocalTitle, and then add dvdid if one does not exist already
- I then save the DvdId xml to the location of the media
- I then save/overwrite the xml file in the DvdInfoCache location (or whatever location you specify in options to store the files)

Just let me know about the genre/studios etc or whatever tags that are not needed/used by DVD Library to display any info on the screen, if it's not necessary i'll take it out.

Cambelious,
Can I ask you to please write a small tutorial on how to setup Symbolic Links in vista/win7 for the DvdInfoCache folder for multiple htpcs and/or extenders so I can put it on my wiki user guide.

Edit: also, can the dvdid file and the xml in DvdInfoCache be hidden? Or is it required for them to be visible...?

Thanks

I will take a look at this later on today.

Ok a couple of things I have found out (mind you using windows 7).

You can hide the dvdid.xml file and Media center still finds it.

You can have multiple genres separated by a comma and MC will use them correctly. (e.g. Comedy,Drama).

As for the studio tag, I don't even see it used within media center 7. I will see what happens with Vista.

Ok, what about the xml files in the DvdInfoCache directory?

Ok thanks, but Actors need to be separated by a colon right? As per your previous xml paste.

Yea, if not used i'll take it out.

Edit: Also, MPAARating, does it have to be PG13 or can there be a dash, for example PG-13?

Yes, you can have the dvdinfocache hidden. But why would you want to?

It looks that way.

It's not about why would you want to or not, I run the saving of all files through one function and the user can set the option in options to save files as hidden or not, so if they have it checked it would save them hidden, i as just making sure if DVD Library still functioned if they were hidden or not.

Thanks for all your info, lastly I guess Studio is not used?

Take Care

I am not at home right now and I can't run Vista MC over remote desktop showing the Movie library. I will try this when I get home later on tonight (mind you I am 3 hours behind you).

I tested it out on Vista MC, and the Studio tags do show up on the movie details page. It doesn't seem to matter what you put in the tag, it will always show up.
