Bitzorro

I have the same problem and I use Vista 32 with service pack 2

I used before Media Player Classic Homecinema with externallauncher.exe and the a bat file called externallauncher.bat with the following inside

@echo off
"C:\program files\MPC-HC\mplayerc.exe" %~sdpnx1 /fullscreen /play /close
Exit

It was called in the config file thru the following xml code

<ExternalPlayers>
<ExternalPlayer>
<MediaType>Mkv</MediaType>
<Command>C:\ProgramData\MediaBrowser\ExternalLauncher.exe</Command>
<Args />
</ExternalPlayer>
</ExternalPlayers>

This worked like a charm in former versions

But that doesn't work nomore, i tried to recreate it thu the configurator but no success
This really stops me from using 2.1 because this is the only way to use mkv files with subtitle selection

For the rest version 2.1 looks dazzeling, amazing quality and looks for a free product, hats off to the developpers

Microsoft eat your heart out, this is what mediacentre should have been from the start

I also am having problems with external players. When I set up MKV to play with MPC, it just stays inside the regular media center player. When I try to do it with DVD (folder format), it launches MPC, but not to the front of the screen, I have to minimiza VMC, and even then for some reason it only displays the folder.jpg file

Can you setup an external player to play .mov files? Downloaded .mov played in VMC jitter were as the same file plays perfect in MPC-HC.

I have the same Problem. When i try to play a .mkv file with media-player-classic homecinema, it just doesnt start in mpc is starts in VMC.
The .mkv files are set in the "advanced" menu in configuration wizard to play with media-player-classic.

when i adviced media browser to play also dvd-files with media-player-classic, media-player-classic opened but minimized in background with no movie loaded...

what have i to do to play .mkv files out of media-browser with the media-player-classic`?

Can I ask the reason for using MediaPlayer Classic for MKV files instead of the standard media centre player?

For me that is subtitle support.
You can easily select other subtitles on the fly, which I cannot do, atleast i haven't found a way to do it, with the standard mediacenter way.
SPDIF support is done by AC3filter

Ah this is interesting!

I also have great trouble with turning subtitles off in Media Centre for a lot of mkv files, etc.

If I chose mediaplayer classic as the playing app for all movies do I just set the player itself to never show subtitles?

If anyone has exact instructions I would be very greatful!

Thanks

In MPC homecinema you can set audiolanguage, subtitles and menu language
This you do under view options

You can selct subs and audio on the fly under navigate and then subtitle or audiolanguage
Standard with me because i have selected Dutch there is no subtitle, so i have to change that with every movie but that is easy

AC3 filter gives me sound thru my SPDIF connection

Same results here; both TT and MPC won't launch when used as an external player, only for DVDs. For mkv, ts etc. it just uses the VMC player.
