Folder Monitoring - Can I do this?

Folder Monitoring - Can I do this?

Postby htpconvert » Tue Mar 23, 2010 4:54 am

I keep all my TV shows on one drive (G: TV Shows)

Can I set meta-browser to monitor a folder on another drive (D: TV Torrents) and have it move those files into "G: TV Shows/relevant TV Show Folder" and then process that meta-data?

If so...how?

If not... is there another similar option?

Thanks!!

Yes you can do this with Metabrowser.

In the options window, have a look at the TV tab. There you can enable "renaming episodes".
Specify your source directory in "monitored" folder and add destination folders.

This should work for both movies and series as far as I know, but I only use it for series. Works pretty well, but does fail sometimes.
Then it will create a new series and season folder because of filenaming issues.

This is only rare though.

I have achieved this - i can check how i did this when i get home from work tonight but from memory i think i did the following

Go to Options
1) go to the General Tab
then under the Folder Monitoring section check User FileSystemWatcher & Scan for Missing Information
2) go to the TV Tab
then under the Episode Renameing and Sorting check the Enable Renaming Episodes checkbox and entered teh folder you want to monitor (ie D: TV Torents) and then under the Desitnation add the location where you want to move them (ie G:TV Shows) this will create the folders if they don;t exists - you will needto have the season folder structure as Season 00, Season 01, Season 02 etc as i had Season 00, Season 1, Season 2 and once it started processing i had multipe directory Season 00, Season 1, Season 2, Season 02 - which just required some manually sorting but now that i have go this working i am very happy and don;t have to worry about manually sorting anymore.

Cheers

exists - you will needto have the season folder structure as Season 00, Season 01, Season 02 etc as i had Season 00, Season 1, Season 2 and once it started processing i had multipe directory Season 00, Season 1, Season 2, Season 02 - which just required some manually sorting but now that i have go this working i am very happy and don;t have to worry about manually sorting anymore.

Thanks JD - does this above passage mean that if a tv show folder exists in "G: TV Shows" (for instance "G:TV Shows/House") I need to add into the destination folder:

G: TV Shows (root folder)
G: TV Shows/House
G: TV Shows/House/Season 01

then if in the monitored folder it sees an episode like "House S01E01" it will move it to the house season 1 folder on the G drive and process the metadata?

So I need to do this for all my shows?

You should be able to just adde G:TV Shows (root folder) and then metabrowser will handle the rest ie it will search & sort the file "House S01E01.avi" and put it in the correct location ie "G:\House\Season 01\House S01E01.avi". I do know that it will automatically create the Season folder (i had the issue of originally having seasons name Season 1 and it created a new one Season 01 so i ended up having two season 1 folders which i had to manually sort (not a biggy just didn;t realise this at the time) - i cannot confirm if it will create the TV Show Folder (ie House) as i have already manually created all these.

damn! I set it up exactly as that however nothing happens. No files are moved. Not even into the root destination directory. Do I need to do something else to trigger metabrowser to do this?

yep, I have checked that as well as scan for missing information.

I know file system watcher works for the G:TV Shows folder, as whenever I drop something into that folder meta-browser automatically amends its list without me having to refresh it.

However it does not seem that it will monitor the D: TV Torrents folder. Odd!

Oh well - I will wait to hear back from you to see how you have set your system up!
Thanks!!
