MetaBrowser not ignoring movie brackets

MetaBrowser not ignoring movie brackets

Postby alexbergsland » Wed Mar 10, 2010 2:40 pm

Example:

Y:\Film\Crank (2006) [BlueRay]

If I process or "save metadata" to a movie the above movie folder will be renamed to Crank (2006). The brackets get removed.
This is a problem for me as i want all movies in one folder and naming them [BlueRay] [DVD] ord [Avi] should do the trick right, but it doesnt.

Folder Pattern is: %lt (%py)

Movie Pattern is: %l_t%ext

What am I doing wrong?

Anyways this program is great :)

hum, each movie can't be in one folder, that's not how MediaBrowser or metaBrowser functions, each movie will need to be in its own folder to be able to use locally stored metadata with MediaBrowser or meta<browser/> as it looks for a mymovies.xml file and there can only be one file named that in each folder.

As for your renaming, it doesn't save the info inside the brackets if your filenames/foldernames have brackets etc... it renames the file/folder based on the values you enter in the UI, so to identify your movies put the Type in the Type field in the metabrowser UI (ie DVD, Blu-ray, AVI) and then set the rename pattern to:

Folder Pattern: %lt (%py) [%mt]

Movie Pattern: %l_t[%mt]%ext

Which will add the movie type you set to the item being renamed.

Sorry, I was not clear enough..

By all movies in one folder I meant all movie folders in one folder =)
Example:
y:\film\film-a [DVD]
y:\film\film-b [Blu-Ray]
y:\film\film-c [DVD]

instead of
y:\film\DVD\film-a
y:\film\Blu-Ray\film-b
y:\film\DVD\film-c

It seems I did not understand how the program treats brackets.

Adding [%mt] did the trick, thanks.

If you are using MediaBrowser you likely going to have an issue with mixing both folder type movies (ie VIDEO_TS rips of DVD's) and file types (avi's, mkv's, etc.). See the Knowledge Base article here for details.

I don't really have an issue with that, i think the issue arrises when you only have ONE movie of another type in the same folder as other movie types...i've mixed mkvs with video_ts in the same folder without issues...
