Next release of meta<browser/>

Next release of meta<browser/>

Postby <>< » Mon Nov 23, 2009 2:11 pm

Hey,

Some news
the usb drive I was saving my project to got corrupted and the last saved copy of metabrowser i had on my desktop is version 7.22.09, i'm trying to recover lost data on my using various tools, if you know of any good tools let me know

I was going to rewrite most of it anyway and make the app a lot more flexable, which will now give me an opportuinity, i've started coding the next release of metabrowser which will do everything that this version does but more and a lot more flexible

have features you would like to see? post it here for me to ponder on it...

so next beta release is prob going to be in a couple of months or so...

<taken from later in the thread>
Now, for the next version I am thinking of going to a donation based system which will give you access to metabrowser 2.0, similar to how alt.binz works, to keep me motivated...something along the lines of --
A $20/year donation will give you:
- Access to meta<browser/> 2.0 to install on 2 systems
- No limit on updates for that year
- Access to contributers forum where you can make requests, report bugs, get latest versions etc
- Work with plugin developers to change any internal code to accommodate thier plugin

ALL users who have donated already (doesn't matter the amount) will get free access to metabrowser 2.0
Take Care

Look forward to this very much so,

Regarding flexibility, how can you make it any more flexible, I find that it ticks all the boxes for me.

Are you thinking of including the Audio Drop downbox with the movie type and aspect ratios dropdowns??? That would be nice.

Unfortunately I've never had to recover data so can't help you there, but good luck and if you require testing of any betas, please just let me know.

Cheers

there is a program called GetDataBack, or is it GetntfsBack. that worked great for me to recover a disk.

but look at this, this would really make my day.

make it possible to take the info from IMDB instead of themoviedb.. Like runtime etc.. The fanart aswell is normally high resolution on IMDB..

Ouch, sorry to hear that, it's always painful to lose data. :(

Still, I like your positive approach in taking the opportunity to rewrite the code to make things better than ever! Some features I'd like to see in the new version are:

  • Tray icon menu - I'd love to be able to right-click on the tray icon and activate a manual scan of the dropbox without pulling the program window up. I think there are a few handy options that could go into such a menu, perhaps running a fetch all or a fetch missing.

  • Dropbox - ignore files smaller than xxMB - This would be handy as smaller sample files can sometimes be moved instead of the actual episode.

Ouch, good luck with the recovery!

As for features, these are a couple of mine that have been mentioned in the forum over the last while so you've probably got them covered!

Option to define auto downloaded items same as in Process All
Pattern matching for sxxexx formats for dropbox rather than having to have hard delimiters
Use series name variable for paths rather than derived name
Option to extract episode image even if tvdb exists, advance by 30 secs on each attempt to allow for appropriate selection
Option to process unprocessed items in event of tvdb outage like there was recently. (if metadata fetch failed, log item details and retry or give option to retry missed items)

Only minor things which shows how mature the app is, glad you're not dropping it after losing the data.
Thanks for keeping on with it, I know I and many others would miss it were it not here!

Hello <><, first of all, sorry for my english  second, i'm from Argentina and I've been following the forum for a while, I'm an user of meta<browser/> and I love it, but please, please, please, I beg you, on my knees, can you make meta<browser/> fetch metada in spanish? I know we are a very large number of users who manually have to edit the synopsis of every movie after meta<browser/> download it in english and copy and paste it in spanish, after we search the movie on the internet of course, and that's really hard and tedious after the tenth movie we have to edit, anyway I'm pretty sure you have no intentions on doing this, but maybe, sometime in the future, maybe, hope is the last thing that gets lost... just in case, the best site to get data from is filmaffinity in spanish, I know the site is in english too so maybe it's not that hard to do, thank you in advance...

For me:
- I would like an option to backup my metadata database.
- A quicker way to add blu-ray, True HD, DTS-HD logos as Studio Icons (right now I have to remember adding them manually)
