Discontinuing my support of MediaScout

Discontinuing my support of MediaScout

Postby aeoth » Thu Mar 05, 2009 2:57 am

I've had enough basically - I'm sick and tired of the majority of "support" or "bug" issues being user-solvable (if people actually thought about why its acting that way) or a repeat (I know, a massive two pages in this subforum, maybe *gasp*, use search?).

This started as a free open source project, and still remains that, but its too much of a time drain for me getting nothing in return.

My advice for the loyal users? If MediaScout doesn't do what you want it to, use Meta<Browser />. If that doesn't do what you want it to, learn C#/.NET, and continue on from my work (Or pay me lots of money so I have any motivation to work on this :P)

MediaScout does everything I want it to do, so I probably won't be pushing out any more updates until the API changes and it breaks for me.
FreQi or Soultaker (maybe) may push out updates (or any of the other "team")

As the saying goes, so long and thanks for all the fish

Sorry to hear that, aeoth. MediaScout is a great piece of software and while it does everything I want it to for my TV shows (at the moment at least ;) ) I was looking forward to seeing what new features you had in the pipeline.

I am very sorry about this aeoth. This is a very sad news. Very bad news, very very bad.

But at the same time I understand and also share some of your frustration - at the end of the day all this work is about time and I know that not everyone always had the time needed (including myself).

I hope to see you here again in the future or maybe somebody else in the truth spirit of open-source community that want to assume MediaScout development with your great open-source code.

Thanks for all your efforts creating this awesome application that is MediaScout and for all your help and time dedicated to us here in the Forum and some times even on IM. We really appreciate it.

Peace!

Hey Aeoth,

thank you so much for your great piece of software! Sorry to hear that you stop working on the program but your motivation is 100% understandable (can I say this in english? I have no clue  ).
Anyway, thanks again.

So long

Sad to hear you are no longer going to continue the development of this great app. Regardless, I will continue using it!
I am not one to add any apps I don't find useful to my HTPC, but MediaScout & MetaBrowser are musts!
:)
