Music and iTunes Library Plugin Setup details

Version 0.5.0.4 on trunk, will continue loading plugin if libraries paths are invalid. Will just skip the library itself.

Don't want to remove the other warnings - because images are cached.

I didn't realize it would actually hurt the program to do that, and didn't necessarily mean to remove the warnings, just to not kill the plug-in just because the Library icon path isn't valid. But I understand your point.

I'm confused as to how to actually get the iTunes library setup. Your config file example didn't have the icon part explained. I want to use the iTunes library.

I set these lines in the musicplugin.xml right?

<LoadiTunesLibrary>true</LoadiTunesLibrary> (This is to turn it on right?)
<iTunesLibraryVirtualFolderName>iTunes Library</iTunesLibraryVirtualFolderName> (This is what the name of the folder on the main screen of MB will be called right?)
<ShowGenreIniTunesLibrary>false</ShowGenreIniTunesLibrary> (This shows genre when you go into the library first correct? It's off though)
<ShowArtistIniTunesLibrary>true</ShowArtistIniTunesLibrary> (This will show the Artist first, where are the artist folder images?)
<iTunesLibraryXMLPath>C:\Users\COPELAND\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml</iTunesLibraryXMLPath> (This is the iTunes music library.xml file location right?)
<iTunesLibraryIcon /> (How do you set this part up? Shouldn't it have the whole thing with <> in it twice, plus the path in between?)
<ForceRefreshiTunesLibrary>false</ForceRefreshiTunesLibrary> (This forces the library to refresh everytime it starts, yes?)

So why am I not getting an image on the main MB menu for the iTunes Library vf? I'm also not getting images for the Artists folders. The Album folders have images.

So how do you just add the folder from the MB configurator? I'm trying to figure out a faster method I guess.

Thanks for any help.

showing it like that lets the program know it is not filled

change to

<iTunesLibraryIcon>C:\pathtoicon\icon.png</iTunesLibraryIcon>

The music plugin isn't loading. Not sure what the deal is. I have the itunes.xml folder path correct.

Any ideas?

EDIT:

Ok, I removed the icon filepath and the second part of the <iTunesLibraryIcon /> code.

Then the itunes library works. But now the folder image and the artist images don't work

Could it have something to do with <iTunesLibraryIcon />? I think it might be the "/" that's in the code. If you remove it and put in the filepath to the icon along with the identical part of the second code, it brings up the Music plugin not loading error when MB opens.

Also, does it matter what format the ituneslibraryicon picture is? I have a .png, but is .jpg, and .ico acceptable too?

EDIT 2:

I made the musicplugin.xml line for the iTunes icon look like this: <iTunesLibraryIcon />C:\Users\COPELAND\Music\folder.jpg<iTunesLibraryIcon /> and it opened, but still no vf image. When going back into the musicplugin.xml, it changes it back to the default of <iTunesLibraryIcon />

The icon part is definitely messing with the program.

you should have it like this <iTunesLibraryIcon>C:\pathtoicon\icon.png</iTunesLibraryIcon>

change the path to the correct path.

Everytime you change something with itunes you have rebuild the library by setting this to true <ForceRefreshiTunesLibrary>false</ForceRefreshiTunesLibrary> it will reload it and set it to false so the next time it wont reload it again.

Folder and backdrop will work as it does, if there is a folder or backdrop in the any directory it will read it. but once again you have to rebuild the library like above.

Hey Neph, I think creating a GUI or if possible (I know you said it would be difficult) adding it to the configurator would be very beneficial. It would make selecting the Itunes Music Library.xml more foolproof as well as selecting the folder icons. It would also make it easier to set every time something changes in itunes. Better than navigating to programdata and editing the xml.

I don't mind myself, because my itunes doesn't change that much and i use the normal library anyway.

Working very well for me but have one minor request, which assumes it is even possible.

For those of us with rhapsody, we have access to anything we add into our library (assuming that download for offline playback is selected). I have about forty albums downloaded into the rhapsody folder within C:\Users\Media-Center\Music\Rhapsody

MC handles them by pulling from the tag so that I get the albums and not the artists (settings). Therefore when I go into MC Music I see all of my music in nice album covers.

Is it at all possible to enable switching between author, album, year, etc, so that those of us with rhapsody can take advantage of the service without having to scroll through over 100 artists. As is, when I go into the MB music plugin, I have over 100 artists that belong to mix CDs that I have downloaded (for example Verve Jazz).

If it is not possible, no worries. I can still use the plugin for the normal music folder. I did see the note about the tags taking forever, so I understand.

That all depends on how the rhapsody folder is set up. Is it split into artists? Or only albums? Its not currently possible to exclude folders, so if it is set up in artist/album/song format, then that is how MB will show it, with the exception of loading an itunes folder, which it can be excluded.

The folder structure is indeed by artists. That is a shame.
