Some Folders not displaying correctly

Some Folders not displaying correctly

Postby stalker001 » Fri Dec 26, 2008 10:49 pm

I think MediaBrowser is a fantastic app, and will continue to use it. It makes movie and series selection so easy for the wife and kids that I would be daft to even contemplate using anything else.

Unfortunately some folders are not displaying video thumbnails or episode names within my TV series folders. My folders are all laid out identically on the same drive, are all .avi format and I use MyMovies to catalogue everything. I'm having the problem with only 6 or 7 series folders, and seeing repetitions of the folder.jpg image and folder name, instead of video thumbs (as per the attached images).

My guess is that I can't see the wood for the trees, but any help at all with this problem would be much appreciated.

If i remember correctly i met the same problem for one or two series in my collection too. The problem occured first with ... hmm ... v.1.3.2 or v.2.0.2 ... don't know exactly by now.

It only happened when my episodes where not arranged under a folder substrucure like "Season 01", "Season 02" etc. Moving the episodes to a such named subfolder (even if only one or not really a season is existing) solved it ...

Maybe this is of any help ...

Thanks for the reply grandpaxxl, I've tried to re-up the images but just keep getting an error message on the post edit page.

I only have the problem on certain folders, but all folders follow exactly the same structure i.e L:\Television\LOST\SEASON 01

I've tried everything I can think of, the problem only seems to have happened since installing MediaBrowser. If I've to live with it for a while so be it, It`s just frustrating that it's happened.

The only time I had this happen is when I used Movie Organizer to pull in metadata for a mini-series (John Adams). It used the series Image for all of the episode images, etc. I removed all metadata files in the folder and this fixed it. I guess if VB sees metadata, it will use it rather than go out and get it, which makes sense.

Hmmm, I'll try that sbrenner.....
I have already cleared cache on numerous occassions, deleted the offending series along with all metadata from MyMovies, then re-added the series to obtain new metadata. But, I will try to just delete the metadata files and see if that sorts it.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Have you tried renaming the folder "SEASON 01" to "Season 01"? I have similar problems in that when I rename my folders to lower case (except for the first letter) it seems to pick up the metadata and thumbnails properly.

Need more details....

- Name of TV show
- Folder structure
- Episode naming convention
