Powerdvd question

Powerdvd question

Postby desertrat » Fri Jun 05, 2009 12:45 am

I am using mediabrowser and i have Powerdvd 9 installed. When I click on a movie where the folder contains an ISO, powerdvd loads and runs fine. When I click on a movie where the folder contains vob files WMC runs. I checked the folder and the vob files are associated with Powerdvd. I ran through the configuration for WMC. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks for any assistance.

I don't think VOB is a file type that is supported by external players using MB. I could be wrong so if so someone please correct me.

So then what's my solution, to convert those folders to a single iso?

Hi desertrat,

Not saying this is the best solution.... but if you do decide to go for the ISO format then the below tool is extremely useful to quickly convert Video_Ts format to ISO image.

Actually it is, as noted by this page: http://www.mediabrowser.tv/wiki/index.p ... al_Players , use "DVD" as the mediatype.

The problem most likely lies with powerdvd 9 as it most likely does not support any command line parameters (i know this was a problem w/ powerdvd8 and not able to pass any parameters to launch a blu-ray, thus everyone using TMT).

ISO/Mounting will work b/c to VISTA its basically a dvd drive and launches the player setup to play that media type.

Please reread my post carefully...i don't think powerdvd accepts command line parameters (i could be wrong about powerdvd9, as i know for sure powerdvd8 did not) and will NOT be able to start a movie that is any other format other than ISO and then Mounting that ISO and letting windows handle it.

Also, I believe SoulTaker has said that the MediaType is case sensitive, so it needs to be "DVD" all CAPS, not "Vob", as Vob is not even defined as a valid media type in the external players list, you can only use the types listed in the list.

Well you were right, that didn't work. The only reason I was trying to do that is I have some movies with subtitles. The subtitles show up on PowerDVD but not on WMP. Any suggestions for that?

Has any successfully got PDVD 9 Ultra working with MB 2.0.11 running Win 7 RC to play mounted BD iso files? PDVD 9 works fine from Media Center on a mounted ISO file. When I try to play a title nothing happens (i.e. PDVD never launches)

I added the following to my config file

<ExternalPlayers>
<ExternalPlayer>
<MediaType>BluRay</MediaType>
<Command>"C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD9\PowerDVD9.exe"</Command>
<Args>"{0}"</Args>
</ExternalPlayer>
</ExternalPlayers>

An ISO is an ISO, it does not matter if it is a blu-ray ISO or a hd-dvd ISO or a normal DVD iso....you need to setup daemon tools or virtual clone drive to mount the iso so can be mounted and will be treated like a regular dvd/blu-ray, from there Vista's autorun will take over and play the movie.

Setup your daemon tools or VCF, go to MediaBrower's options and point it to it's location and set UseAutoPlayForIso to True.

Go to Vista's autoplay settings page and set Blu-Ray type to load in Powerdvd9.
