Something wrong with the install package?

Postby MrNorth » Sat Aug 16, 2008 2:05 pm

Hi!

I cant install this program. When I try and run the msi file it says "Video browser can only be installed on Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate". But I have an SP1 installation of Vista Ultimate!! And I also installed the latest version of .NET Framework!!

Can anyone tell me please why I can't install it? It is very annoying to get a messagebox that simply doesn't tell the truth...

The version I try to install is 1.1.13
kind regards

Hi again!

I asked my friend to try this, and he got the exact same message on his computer. There must be a serious bug within the install package.
Here is a picture to prove it:

Have you installed the Fiji TV-pack? That might be cause the problem.
I found a possible solution in a swedish forum (http://www.minhembio.com/forum/index.ph ... &p=2031260).
That guy says that you could try (AT YOUR RISK OF COURSE) to change this Registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center
Change the "Ident" key from "5.1" to "5.0".

I have not tried it myself though, but that might fool the installation program (which obvisouly needs to be updated).
If it works I suggest that you restore to key to the original value afterwards.

Hi!

Yes it worked. It was a friend of mine who posted the solution on that forum. Since I was a beta tester for the Filji pack I definetly has it installed and video browser works fine!!

I have mailed sam about this and hopefully he will fix the install file soon. Case closed!
