Media Browser & h.264

Postby TimG » Sun Apr 11, 2010 10:30 pm

I'm having trouble getting Media Browser to play files with the .mkv container, specifically the h.264 and avc1 codec.

I've got ffdshow installed and configured so MPC-HC plays any and all .mkv files flawlessly.

The issue is with MB using Windows Media Player to play videos I think, and my h.264 and avc1 videos do not play in WMP.

Is there anything in addition to ffdshow that I need to have installed so h.264 plays effortlessly in Media Browser? Thanks.

You probably need the Haali Splitter, I can't remember if it comes with FFDShow, just get either the x86 or x64 version, whichever is relevant to you and you should be fine.

I understand why some people dont want to put clutter on there pc's but it makes life so much easier to throw something like Klite on a installation you can play everything effortlessly after. And I have never once ran into any issue using it.

You can also use Sharks which is even more minimal or cccp.

Personally though I prefer klite as I have allot of flac audio and other things.
