looking sharp!

One request, is it possible to override the movie type if the <Type> tag is available in mymovies.xml? For example, my mkvs are movie only rips from either blu-ray or hd-dvd, and i set the type accordingly in the xml, it would be nice to have the logo displayed based on the type in the xml (folder rips show the icons fine)

Also, in the popup view, maybe have the Year next to the Title in parenthesis? For example "Aeon Flux (2005)"

looking forward to 2.0 :D

You should use the community tracker to post this request it makes things easier since not all dev's will check this thread, I think some backend coding might have to be done to get it to read the tag in the local XML file. If this is done I can add it to Vanilla.

I may move to that, the popup info is still a WIP playing around with it alot still.

and maybe move the parental rating down to the studio or mediainfo line, keeping it aligned right? for instances of long movie names? just a suggestion.

throgmorton wrote:So I think I have finalized my list view here is the screen with and without the popup info window.

I like it even more than before! 3 questions:
- the line with sound and vidio details could be reorganized to get one line more. Could be like this: [video icon] xxx kbps [aspect icon] resolution [sound icon] xxx kbps?
- what do you think about music part of MB? Will you plz prepare one view to display music files (of one album) better? Now the poster view part works great, but when you enter an album it's very hard to chose any view to display the list of album songs...
- will you keep backdrops visible in poster view? I'm asking that becouse of discussion at community site about bug/feature of diamond which doesn't do that. I wouldn't like Vanilla to go that way, because in case of displaying a couple of albums you would see covers and 80% of blank backdrop.

I will look at this but currently the mediainfo comes back as a string (so all together) I would have to rewrite it a bit to come back individually, I will look at it though and if its worth it my implement it.

I haven't look too much and the music plugin yet, so I'm not sure how if it works in the same manner as MB since it's a plugin. By this I mean will the folders be identified as albums, artists, etc so I can tailor the views to better support any metadata that comes back.

Backdrops have been and will always be defined by the user in Vanilla through the view menu system. You can choose to have them on/off for any view at any folder level.

Well this may upset a few people but this is most likely what the new thumb or strip view (I haven't decided which one) will look like . Although I'm leaning towards thumb replacement. Anyways the details will be saved for the details screens thus just a minimal amount of information will appear on the view screens. You will always be able to get more info on these screen by pressing the # to get the pop-up info screen, seen in many of the other snaps seen before.

is there any chance we can control the opacity of the non-focused images to see more of the backdrop?

It's possible to do but is it worth it? I did a little screen shot below with opacity at 40%, I'm not sure if it looks better or worse than with full opacity.

Fair enough I will still be playing around with this view, but I'm convinced it will replace the old thumb view.

Strip will be the following (very similar to old one):
